Fifty years or so ago.

Some more shot from way back when men were Men.
At Taieri in 1964 we see the Tom Grant, Dudley Waters and A J L McDonald Tiger Moth Coupe ZK-AZY (c/n 83557). It overturned at Taieri on 12-11-1967 (I think) and its registration wa cancelled on 19-09-1968.
Above (a shot from an unknown source) but taken at Christchurch showing Tiger Moth ZK-AIM (c/n 83469) of the Canterbury Aero Club with what look like ATC cadet wing tip assistants. Photo taken pre 03-03-1951 when it crashed near Swannanoa

In April of 1963 - during a family camping expedition - I managed to get a look around at the Queenstown airport. In the open hangar (still in use today) was this De Havilland DH89A Dragon Rapide ZK-AKS (c/n 6673) of Southern Scenic Air Services.
It was written off on Mt Soho on 15-06-1965.

Further afield - at the Te Anau airstrip of Ritchie Air Service - I chopped the undercarriage off another aircraft. ZK-ALB (c/n 6655) was a DH89B Dominie which served in the south between 1957 and late 1971 - before flying off to Australia.
