Piper Comanches.

On the 27th of March at Omarama I caught up with this tribe of Piper Comanche's.
They were part of the International Comanche Society Convention that was held at Queenstown 22-26/03/2016.
Check out :-
There were four PA30 Twin Comanche's and a lone PA-24 Comanche in this line up.
The three Australian Twins crossed the Tasman from Port Macquarie to Lord Howe Island on 09-03-2016 then to Kerikeri to reach Baz's place on Taupo Airport on the 12th.

They visited many Southern field before reaching Queenstown on the 22nd.
There were also other off shore arrivals including PA-30's VH-HPR and VH-MAC.
Piper PA-30 Twin Comanche VH-TSJ3 is c/n 30-1814 of 1969 vintage.
Built as N8671Y it went to South Africa as ZS-FVR before becoming VH-FVZ on 02-06-1987.
It later became VH-JMQ and then to VH-TSJ on 24-03-1997 with Tony Van der Spek of Strathdale, Victoria.

ZK-BAZ2 is c/n 24-3206 and has been with Barry (aka Baz) Payne since being registered here on 17-09-2008. It was originally N7696P from 1962.
Baz and ZK-BAZ have done several oceanic flights and I believe the Anzac Poppy symbolises his trip to Gallipoli.
Below ZK-BAZ bores out of Omarama North bound.

ZK-DOK (c/n 30-1735) arrived in Auckland as N8582Y on 03-07-1973. Imported by DTI for Bob Shewry it went on line with the Auckland Aero Club.
By 06-04-2000 it was with the Waikato Aero Club at Hamilton.

VH-MEG2 is c/n 30-781 of 1965. Listed in the States as N7798Y it went onto the Australian register on 05-03-1974 with its current owner Tony Read of Sandringham, Victoria.
Below VH-MEG departs Omarama with the Benmore Range as a backdrop.

VH-PBH3 is c/n 30-1961 and is the youngest of this collection. First listed in the USA as N8805Y it became VH-BAX on 06-05-1974 and then to VH-PBH on 12-03-2003.
Graham Bunn of Coldstream Victoria acquired it on 23-05-2008.
