Nieuport 11 at The Vintage Aviator Airshow, Masterton 10/11/2012

There were 24 WW 1 aircraft at the Vintage Aviator Airshow at Masterton on 10 November, and I have posted 23 of them: 14 British and 9 German.  And the 24th aircraft on the line was an Italian Nieuport 11.

ZK-NIM is an Addems-Pfeifer Nieuport 11 replica which features a rotary motor, and is painted as the aircraft flown by Sgt. Alvaro Leonardi of 80a Squadriglia of the Italian Air Service.  The face is "Fortunello" which means Lucky, and is based on the Italian edition of the "Happy Hooligan"comic strip of the time.

There was another WW 1 aircraft on the aerodrome, being the original Avro 504K ZK-ACU, which was unserviceable in The Vintage Aviator hangar.  This aircraft has been posted previously on this blog as www.nzcivair.blogspot.co.nz/2011/03/vintage-aviator-collection-at-masterton.html  .  Counting this aircraft, there were 7 rotary engined aircraft on the field.
